…… build a foolproof working wardrobe

Whether you’re re-entering the workforce, have lost a significant amount of weight or just received a big promotion, being appropriately attired can be a real confidence booster. Here is a basic list of items that will get you on your way.

- A classic, conservative coloured blazer in a natural fibre – cool wool is most versatile.
- A slim fitting skirt and flat fronted trousers that coordinate with the blazer.
- A tailored white shirt, with tails long enough to tuck into your skirt or trousers.
- A black sheath dress that can take you through a day at the office and on to a professional function – that hits just below the knee.
- A fitted crew-neck sweater in a lightweight knit.
- A camisole that can be worn under the blazer with the skirt or trousers
- Mid-heel shoes such as pumps
- A sleek leather bag, large enough to hold professional material
- A narrow leather belt

Once you’ve got your essentials sorted out, you can start injecting more fashionable items that individualise your outfits, but this can usually be done quite inexpensively with accessories such as scarves and earrings.
